JONATHAN B. BULKELEY
Jonathan Bulkeley is the CEO and a Board Member of Scanbuy, the global leader in visual navigation for the wireless industry.
Mr. Bulkeley also currently sits on the Board of Directors of Spark Networks (NASDAQ:LOV), Pictage, Excelsior Buyout Fund of Funds, Excelsior Absolute Return Hedge Fund of Funds and Excelsior Lasalle Real Estate Fund. In addition Mr. Bulkeley serves on the Advisory Boards of Arkadium, an online games developer, The Jordan Edmiston Group in New York, Elderstreet Capital Partners in London and Jerusalem Global Venture Partners in Israel.
From February 2001 to October 2001 Mr. Bulkeley served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Lifeminders (NASDAQ:LFMN). In October ’01 Lifeminders was sold to Cross Media Marketing (AMEX:XMM) for $68 million, a significant premium to the cash value of the business.
Prior to Lifeminders, Mr. Bulkeley was the CEO of barnesandnoble.com and was responsible for bn.com’s IPO, which at the time was the largest Internet IPO in history. bn.com sales grew from $71 million to over $200 million during his tenure.
Prior to bn.com, Mr. Bulkeley was managing director of America Online’s (AOL) joint venture with Bertelsmann Online in the UK. Appointed in July 1995, Mr. Bulkeley moved to the UK to create AOL’s European operations. Over the next three years, AOL-UK became the UK’s top online provider with 600,000 subscribers, $150 million in sales and $30 million in net income.
In 1999 he was nominated to the World Economic Forum in Davos as a Global Leader for Tomorrow and in 2000 the World Economic Forum named him one of the top 100 technology pioneers of the year. He is a 1982 graduate of Yale University in African Studies, something his parents questioned at the time.
