SLAM X ON STREET CULTURE

Slam X is a New Zealand business making its mark on the world as a global authority on street culture and lifestyle, with content that straddles the line between street art and high art. The Slam X team stopped by Fahrenheit 212 to tell us about their business and answer our Kiwi CEO’s most urgent question: How did they manage to become so influential coming from the most un-influential place in the world?
The answer? With a compelling vision, an extensive network of designers, brands and artists and an ambition that drives ventures from print and online content to fashion, retail and social media.
Slamxhype is a street culture blog with 10M unique visitors a month and a No. 1 ranking among influencers in its market. The blog spawned 3 new sites last quarter, including Slambase, a Wiki for street culture, and Anyone, Girl, a fashion blog for women. And while most of the media industry is busy switching from print into online, Slamxhype went the other way with The New Order, a quarterly fashion and art magazine conceived as a collectible, with distribution in boutiques and art galleries.
While Fahrenheit 212 would defer to Slam X on the question of what’s next in street culture, we are certain Slam X represents what’s next in lifestyle brands.
