DAN ARIELY ON IRRATIONALITY
BESTSELLING BEHAVIORIST UPENDS ENDURING BELIEFS
Dr. Dan Ariely, professor of economics at MIT and Duke University, visited Fahrenheit 212 before his appearance at the 2009 World Innovation Forum.
Dr. Ariely has made a career of examining common behavioral assumptions that, when tested, turn out to be totally false. His bestseller, Predictably Irrational, showcases his intriguing [and quite clever] research methodologies and findings. Simply put, human beings often do not behave according to rational cost/benefit analysis. He advocates for new systems that account for our predictably irrational ways.
CEO Geoff Vuleta, Business Director Harry Smail and Dr. Ariely enjoyed a lively conversation around how to test innovation ideas. Determining which ideas to kill and which to pursue is a key part of our business. We were honored to discuss our process with this masterful scientist.
